Birth Story
Charlene went into the
hospital on Monday, the 25th with issues with her blood pressure.
After several attempts to induce labor over 3 days, the OB finally
decided to do a C-Section, since the baby didn't seem to be ready to
come via regular labor.
SO! Allan Bruce
Huskins, III was born at 10:04 a.m. on Thursday morning, April 28th.
Right after birth, he
had some difficulty breathing, and his glucose count was way too
low. Also, some abnormalities showed up on the first Echo-gram
(tests of his heart). However, within 24 hours, all the
abnormalities had resolved, and he was pronounced a HEALTHY BABY
BOY, and was released from the NICU to the regular nursery.
Charlene had to spend the same first 24 hours receiving some special
medicine for the blood pressure, but she was also released to
regular recovery right before baby was released from the NICU. (It
was a happy moment when Mom, Dad, and Baby were FINALLY able to be
all together after about 36 hours apart!)
Mom, Dad, and Baby spent
the night together, but when the pediatrician saw Baby AB in the
morning, it was determined that he needed some treatment for
borderline jaundice. So, off he went to the "bili
lights" in the nursery for 24 hour treatment. The nurses
allowed him out of the machine every three hours for feeding, but
otherwise, he was napping in the nice, warm, "fake sun".
Thankfully the bili
lights did the trick, and Mom and Baby were released on Sunday
afternoon to GO HOME!
